CROSS MOJO
CROSS MOJO
boasts a diverse, yet accomplished line-up. In the band’s
collective Thirty plus years of experience, the individuals that
comprise CROSS
MOJO have shared stages
with such Rock N’
Roll notables as Black Foot, Black Oak Arkansas, Blue Oyster
Cult, Mark Farner (formerly of Grand Funk Railroad), Molly
Hatchet, Quiet Riot, Pat Travers, and Jimmy VanZant.
The story of
CROSS MOJO:
Well, you all are probably
wondering “what
the hell is a”
or “who
the hell are”
CROSS MOJO.
So, sit back and relax. Grab your beverage of choice, because
this could take awhile.
A long time ago, on a foggy
morn’,
a creature arose from the primordial ooze that encompasses the
muddy banks of the Mississippi River. It was a creature so
hideous, that people fell lifeless at but a mere glimpse of its
retched form. “They”
say that the creature fed on the young (and young at heart)
nightly. It crept upon the innocent and took their very souls.
Oops, wrong story!
The origins of
CROSS MOJO
were actually set in motion long ago as well. I don’t
think there was any fog involved, but there was a light show
triggered by bass drum beats. Oh, I digress. But, that
ROCKED!! Anyway, Dale and Mike met while they were in
“Raizing
Cane”
and “Dirty
Work”
respectively. “Dirty
Work”
allowed “Raizing
Cane”
to open several different shows for them in attempts to get
bookings at the clubs. A bond started between the two bands.
“Dirty
Work”
dissolved and “Raizing
Cane”
needed a learned sound technician to tweak their knobs. A good
sound tech can make or break a band, and Mike is one of the
best. Over time, unrest grew in the
“Raizing
Cane”
camp. Different tastes in music and direction drove the wedge
that would lead to Dale’s
departure from the band.
Dale and Mike set out to
conquer the world together (or at least the Clinton / Quad City
surrounding areas, big and small). They performed together in
several bands with several other players to varying degrees of
success. It had seemed that their collective star had burnt and
run its course.
Dwight had embarked on his
own musical journey. He played guitar for various local
projects including
“R.O.C.O.”,
but the road to
CROSS MOJO
became evident when he switched to bass guitar. Dale and Dwight
met each other through work; their friendship forged the roots
for what was soon to come.
Dwight had been performing
with “Hedroom
Hertz”,
Mike had been performing with
“The
Bones”,
and Dale had been involved with a couple of projects, waiting to
see something special, some kind of spark. And faithful
readers, the stars finally aligned for Dwight, Mike, and Dale.
The result is a Rock N’
Roll machine that we like to call
CROSS MOJO.
